When Carmel Cooperative Preschool moved into our current home at the Congregation Shaarey Tefilla in Carmel, Indiana, we were thrilled that all of our classrooms doors opened up to a fenced-in, private courtyard. However, it was a big, empty yard. Since that day in 2015, we have added things as we have grown, such as mud kitchens, a dome climber and a butterfly garden, all lovingly made by our parent volunteers.

As Carmel Cooperative grows to include a Kindergarten program, we are prepared to take our outdoor space to the next level. Our detailed plans, as seen above, include added mulched areas for safety, a sand box for sensory play, and an outdoor classroom including learning gardens and outdoor tables. Our goal is to become a Nature Explore certified classroom and to have a safe, beautiful, enriching space for our children to learn.
